A few months ago, we obtained the awarding of the fa\u00e7ade mock-up for the Shopping Centre La Part Dieu in Lyon. The prototype panels were produced in our factory located in Segovia and sent to Lyon in different panel combinations, with a variety of tones and finishes. The panels were then assembled on site as a second skin in a curtain wall with different profiles and glasses. This way the associated architects MVRDV and SUD, the fa\u00e7ade consultants VP Green, and Unibail Rodanco representatives in collaboration with technicians of both contractors Leon Grosse and GCC, were able make the latest decisions about the fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n

After several visits to our facilities and numerous meetings on the site to develop and outline all the details, we can announce that we have also been awarded the execution of the panels for the future facades of this impressive remodelling and expansion project of the Part Dieu Shopping Centre in the heart of Lyon. We will therefore run the architectural concrete, and the opaque and evaporated Ductal panel units. A total of more than 12,000 square meters.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Part Dieu is the larger Shopping Centre in Europe. It was constructed in 1975 with 166,000 square meters in the third district of Lyon, in France.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The project encompasses, on the one hand, the performance in the existing area with a reorganization of the interior spaces and a contemporary intervention in the facades, and on the other hand this MVRDV project adds 32,000 square meters of public space, housing restaurants, parks and a movie theatre.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

MVRDV\u2019s design restructures each side of the mall in order to integrate it into the neighbouring streets, while a large roof garden looks towards the city’s Fourvi\u00e8re Basilica and provides calm over the bustling streets below.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Significant modifications to the existing concrete facade seek to reconnect the mall with its immediate surroundings and improve pedestrian flows.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

By dissolving existing concrete patterns, the modifications seek to transition the facade from concrete to glass. For this reason, three types of panels are created: opaque, in latticework and evaporated, all of them respecting the original pattern design of the panels from the 70s.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Lyon Part-Dieu, we draw this facade with large pixels that we expect will give a more human scale not only to the mall, but to the whole place\u201d – Winy Maas, cofounder, MVRDV.<\/p>\n
